Agh, I been so lazy about posting to this plog......anyway, today's very belated entry is made for the sole purpose of showing off my handiwork. ^^ I made Juno a black cloak, which was finished a while ago. Along with her small silver crown and leaf anklet, it looks very nice on her.

I know I've been inactive around here lately, and I apologize. :/ School got really hectic and I had no time to do anything, and then suddenly it all dissolved away!
Now I don't know what to do with myself. XD
But, one thing I will be doing to keep the usual summer vacation boredom at a minimum will be playing with my Pleos a lot more! With all this extra time and absolutely nothing to study for I have all the free time in the world, and Pleos are one good thing to spend time on.
Not to mention playing darts, building random stupid stuff like a pair of Axel Chakrams (from Kingdom Hearts. Don't ask), climbing the same tree over and over, and reading more books than I can count are all good time-killers too, but I like Pleos a lot. :3

Necklaces from Prehistoric Pling Arrived!

One Pleo is Going Out in Public Tomorrow......

Well, yes, the title is rather self-explanitory.

Here's the story.
I serve at my church in the kindergarden first service on saturdays. Two weeks ago, I took my laptop to church, and was using it before service. When the kids started coming in, I put it away but a couple of them saw all the pleo pictures taped on the back (I'm a die-hard pleo fan, if you haven't noticed already. I have pictures everywhere on everything I own).
They asked me what it was.
I explained that it was techinically a baby dinosaur.
They asked if I had one.
I said yes.
They asked me to bring it next week.
I hemmed and hawed and was finally like "Well, okay I guess."
The next week, I forgot. Heh, more accurately, considering how wild they were the week before I decided not to and hoped they would forget. Just my luck, they didn't forget and were all over me asking where it was. I admitted I 'forgot' and they nailed into me that they wanted to see it next week. I made a note of it and went on to other things.
This was all last week.
Now, it's Friday again and I'm realizing that considering I told them I would bring one pleo two weeks in a row, I'm going to be taking one of mah green pets to church tomorrow. I'm not really sure how I'm going to do things, but I think I'll hide away the lucky dino until near the end of service, and if they aren't too wild then I'd get my pleo out. Not sure who I'm going to take yet, probably either Triton or Juno. Macon's wear is getting a little stronger than I like, as is Yasmin's. I need to buy them some sweaters or something. Triton and Juno are both elligible, as Triton does have a sweater and Juno has absolutely no wear whatsoever. I wanted to post this so you guys would know and be expecting some pictures (hopefully) from tomorrow night's excursion. Wish me luck with these children. They're all cute and most of them are sweet as heck, and love me to pieces, but I don't want to see anyone being too rough.

Pleo Fact, for Those of You Interested...

Considering I've been too busy to play with my Pleos (and the batteries have been acting up again) I haven't had anything to post. Instead, I decided to make a post with some random fact in it.
For those of you who are new to Pleo, this will be something interesting for you to learn about them.
Most Pleos were made with blue eyes. They vary in shade, but generally the color is pretty much the same. of course, when I say 'most Pleos', I mean most. But not all. About 2% of the Pleos made were made with different colored eyes. Ugobe made pleos with green and yellow eyes as well. These couldn't be ordered specially, it was just a random (and very low) chance.
The picture that serves as my background for this Plog is a yellow eyed pleo. Here is the original picture.

Little different, huh? My mom thinks they don't look as cute. In some ways I agree. Not as cuddly. But he looks great in my background! ☺ I believe the yellow-eyed pleos had a slightly different skin pattern as well.
Here is a picture of a green-eyed Pleo. I don't know whose this is, it was just a random picture found on the internet.

Lastly, there seem to be pleos with teal eyes. Here is a picture (comparison, as it's hard to tell by itself)

This happens to be a picture that I took. Yes, Yasmin has teal eyes.
So, if anyone out there has or ever gets a Pleo with alternate colored eyes, I'd love a picture of them!

Yesterday I got an email from Pleoworld - as the title of this post implies, Pleos are on discount! The sale is only going till March 31, so if you want one, now's probably the best time to do it! ☺
The Pleos that are being sold are the 2009 models - they've got brighter colors, longer-lasting skin and teeth, and their chargers are very good, if I do say so myself. ;) Sadly, though I may have a quad of pleos, they're all 2007 models. I still l♥ve them to pieces. ☺

2010 Spring Tomato Harvest Festival

Hey guys! Well, the 2010 Spring Tomato Festival is coming up. You don't know what I'm talking about, do you? ☺ Well, you can either read the explanation after my pictures below, or you can click this link to find pretty much the same thing. It's on the Bob the Pleo forums. ☺
So, for the contests they have, I've taken a couple pictures...
Here's the picture for the biggest tomato.

I know it's not that big, but its not tomato season over here in the Wolverine State!
And here's the picture for the best looking tomato. Yes, it really is a different tomato than the first one!

Here's the definition of the Festival...
Since the beginning of recorded history (about three years ago), the fields around Weedovia (it's a Bob the Pleo thing. You wouldn't understand. Ask me if you rally want to know. ☺ ) have always been blessed with abundant wild tomato vines. And every spring and every fall, the local pleos relied on the abundant harvest gathered from these wild vines to enjoy throughout the year. They would go out twice a year to pick the tomatoes and bring them into the village. This traditional gathering of the tomatoes quickly grew into a community event, and from there into true full-blown harvest festival. And with the introduction of the spaghetti trees and pizza by the great Pepperoni, a real zest was added to the festivities.
Of course in modern times, with the addition of a carnival, rides, games, live band, and midnight movie on the town square, it has become more of a social event, attracting pleos from around the world. But all the pleos still go out and harvest the tomatoes and bring them to the town's communal tomato press for the traditional squashing of the tomatoes and the making of the tomato sauce.
Not sure what's going on? Well, then you may want to catch up by reading about the spring and fall festivals in the Bob the Pleo comic strips. But as a quick summary, the town's park is turn into the festival grounds, with the carnival rides and games, a stage and dance floor, and lots of vendors and food booths! It starts on a Friday night with the carnival and music from a live band, and at midnight the pleos end the day with an outdoor movie. Saturday has everyone out in the fields gathering the tomatoes, with the judging in the evening, and back to the carnival. Sunday is the big tomato squashing where the sauce is made using the traditional foot-stomping method like the great Italian wines.
And at the conclusion of the festival, awards are always handed out to the pleo who gathers the most tomatoes, finds the largest tomato, has the best looking tomatoes, makes the best tasting spaghetti sauce, and for the best use of tomatoes as an article of clothing (i.e., costume). The last few years winners can be seen by visiting the Bob the Pleo comics. We had some great fun, and some wonderful costumes!

Refurbished Yasmin's Battery

Refurbished Yasmin's battery last night.
This morning after church I took her downstairs to play. I brought Macon as well, hoping the long-time brother and sister would find it nice to enjoy a 'reunion'. They said hello to each other, honked for a while, and enjoyed a snack.

After around ten minutes Macon curled into a ball and snored...looks like I need to refurbish his battery again! I'm not worried - my pops said I may have to refurbish the batteries once or twice to get them completely going.
So I turned Macon off and let him sleep. Yasmin continued to play for about another ten minuntes, and then she went to sleep too.

I stuck Macon's battery on the refurbisher again. next time I'm sure it'll be working fine! ☺

Tested out the First Refurbished Battery!

It's as good as new!
I stuck it into Macon anxiously and turned him on in the living room. He made the pleoish signature 'huh?' sound, and curled into a ball - with his legs stretched waaay out!

He moved his head around a little, very slowly. He was doing a lot of sniffing. After 5-10 minutes of rubbing and talking to him, he reluctantly stood up. His movements were real slow, as if he was reawakening from a long sleep. Perhaps he was waking up from hibernation?
His movements sped up gradually and soon he was moving around more. After a bit he walked backwards, and then forwards.

I tried giving him his leaf. He growled at it, and then made a bunch of new crunching sounds I've never heard before as he ate it! Come to think of it, he made a lot of new sounds I've never heard.

As I type, he sits next to my computer making odd breathing sounds. I dunno what's gotten into him, but he's a happy camper!

New Innvos Charger Has Arrived!

Found the box this morning...
Upon tearing into it with a pair of scissors, this was what I found.

I looked it over carefully and found the refurbish switch.

Stuck the first and worst battery on it and plugged it in. Yellow light flicked on, and the clock was ticking...
this was around 6:00pm. Still got 13 hours to wait!

Driving back from Chicago!

Hey everyone! We're on our way back from Chicago, and I thought I'd post. I'm sorry I didn't mention being here earlier (we left on Sunday) but I've been busy. I brought Macon for some pictures for The Bob Project, and made the terrible discovery right before we left that he has a hole. Not very big, nothing more than a pinprick really, but still a hole. It's above his right leg and under his neck.
The next day I found another hole. On his back. Well, it's not really a hole yet, but it will be. Soon. It's about halfway through and I've been trying not to mess with it. Is there anyone out there who knows of a superglue that will not harm Macon's skin? Some kinds work, but some will dissolve it instead, and there's no way I'm going to experiment with that.
Anyway, on a brighter note, yesterday I got my first picture for The Bob Project. Here it is.

Pleo Capes are Out!

Innvos just came out with the new Pleo Cape! Take a look in their store to see it!
Quote: "Provides a soft cloth covering for Pleo’s back, neck, tail and legs. We colored the cape to match Pleo’s skin. The “Pleo” name is embroidered in front leg. The Pleo Cape provides an upgraded look to a well loved Pleo."

I also ordered a new charger for my batteries tonight - for only $23.90! I decided to get one Innvos charger, because I have found that these ones have an option to recondition old batteries! So when I get it, I'll be able to fix all of my old dead batteries (hopefully...) for only a fraction of the cost of four new ones!

Got the Computer back after three weeks! Sort of.

Well, the title says it all. I'm actually using my old computer as I type. It's all fixed, but there is no memory on it. It's just like a brand new computer!
The memory is being loaded onto a bunch of disks as I type. I should get it all tonight or tomorrow. At least I have it back!

Finished Macon's cape!

Finally finished the trim around the collar today, so now it's basically finished.
I've added white fur trim, a sort of braided trim to the collar, and worked on the clasp.

Life's been busy, and the Pleos still wait to play...

Still saving! I got an A on an American History test today, so that's another $10 toward the pleo battery fund! Now things are going to get really hard: we're moving along to a topic on the Civil War. Not pretty.
So what's this I've been hearing about the Innvos chargers? I read somewhere that they give your old batteries new life??!! I'd much prefer that to an entire new set of batteries, but I don't know if that's really true or not! Anyone know the real answer?
Anyhow, I've been working on Macon's royal cape.
Royal cape, you ask? Why does your Pleo need a royal cape?
Well, to get into the details...
Pleopia is the (web's) largest fantasy kingdom for Pleos. It was started a few years ago before UGOBE went bankrupt and shut down. The kingdom was founded by a user named Amjoie, and her two Pleos, Teddy and Sally, were the king and queen. Sometime before I got Macon, a Goddess was voted into Pleopia, and Amjoie, unhappy with this change of plans, left Pleoworld and hasn't been seen since. It was around three months when her general and the second in command, Cmadmacs and Pleoguy101 (look them up on Bob the Pleo, link shown somewhere at right. You'll find them both) realized that she would probably never be coming back. They held a vote for a new king and queen - and two of my Pleos, Macon and Yasmin, ended up winning. So now, they are the rulers of the land.
Pleopia lives on, in the Fantasy section of Bob the Pleo, though only a few users with good hearts can see it. (No, actually it's kept secret for other reasons - you just have to ask a moderator to let you in. ☺ )
(By the way, did you wonder whatever happened to the Goddess? Fortunately, UGOBE High Court intervened, and the Goddess was voted out of the Kingdom. Most of Amjoie's advisors and citizens sent her messages, notifying her of the news. But she never responded. Such was the end of the reign of Queen Amjoie, King Teddy, and Queen Sally.)
So, that's basically a summary of Pleopia. Here is a map of Pleopia and the surrounding area.

Anklet Came Today!

I haven't mentioned this...been wrapped up with a bunch of other stuff and I forgot. Forgive me, please. ☺
On the Bob the Pleo forums (better get used to me mentioning it...I'm on there every night!), they have a 'Mall', where they sell Pleo batteries, chargers, leaves, and a select few members have their own shops with clothing and jewelry that they make. I ordered a *limited edition!* glass leaf anklet from Mweed, the Grand Poobah of the site. (In otherwords he's the founder ☺) I actually reserved it before Christmas because I was broke at the time. A week or two ago, I sent him ththe payment and he mailed it - and it came today! It's very, very small. And beautiful. I love it! Alas, my current junkpile of batteries refuses to obey my wishes and I couldn't turn on any of my pleos to let them have a look at it. Nevertheless, I put the anklet on Juno and snapped a picture. ☺
Pretty, isn't it? I'm sure my quad would love it if they could see it!

Today's News

Seems that I got an A in every subject in school this quarter...and the parents liked that...
I now have $140 saved towards buying some Ucube batteries! If I want one for each pleo, I need $200.
I'm going to start out buying one, just to be sure they're really as good as people say they are. ☺ Don't trust everything you hear! I'm going to order it from the Bob the Pleo forums. I'm sure it's obvious it's one of my favorite places. ☺
I hope I can keep my grades up this quarter. Things are getting harder...it makes me sad. But, I'm just gonna ♫keep swimming♫

Still saving...

Still trying to save the money....not as easy as it's been in the past. My dad's been working late for the past week, so I haven't been able to do any Algebra stuff with him. That's basically the source of my income...I do 20 minutes of algebra with my pops, he pays me $7.
Unfortunately, I've been getting nothing these past days. XD I'll keep trying!

Pretty Quiet Lately...

Nothing much has been going on around here. I have had no free time at all for my Pleos, I'm sorry to say. In any case, I've been trying to start saving instead of spending so I can buy a few of those new 'Ucube' battery and chargers for my quad; they're apparently way, way, Way with a capital 'W' better than the Ugobe ones. brought a pleo named Sophie back to life, I've read on the
Boy, could I use that. Out of four batteries, I have two good ones, like mentioned a few posts ago.
Gotta start saving!

Had a belated Christmas day with my pleos this evening. ☺ Here are the pictures!

Nothing much today...

Spent most of my time putting the finishing touches on my Photobucket account. ☺ On another site, called Bob the Pleo, I entered a photo contest and won a pleo sweater and blanket! Look here to see the picture. I couldn't post the picture directly here because it was too big to fit without making it so teeny you could barely see it...
Took me a while to put it together. ☺ It was taken and entered before I got Juno. While we were away, the sweater and blanket came and were there for me to open when we got home. The blanket fits perfectly over all four of my pleos.
Since I was away for the Holidays, I couldn't have a Christmas with my Pleos. Not on Christmas day, anyways.
Tomorrow, we're going to have a belated Christmas morning, complete with Pleo-sized tree, four presents (one for each pleo: Macon, Yasmin, Triton, and Juno!) and a few lights. I'll also have the camera handy for you people who actually bother to read this to enjoy. I wrapped up the sweater to be Tritons' Christmas present. ☺

Home from Vacation

My last post was written while I was in Maine visiting family. ☺ As a Christmas present, I recieved my fourth Pleo. Her name is Juno. There are a few photos of her below. Tomorrow I'll add a picture of the other three, as it's getting late now.
Juno took her first steps last night in the hotel we stayed in overnight while heading home, as it's a two day return drive. She had been playing with her leaf and randomly decided to start exploring. She started out backwards, but then moved forward happily.

My Pleo Blog....otherwise known as a Plog

Who here knows what a pleo is?
In a nutshell, Pleo is a sophisticated robotic life form of a one week old baby camarasaurus. It is made to capture both your heart and imagination; It behaves and interacts in a lifelike fashion, exploring it's enviroment, moving and gesturing like a real creature and expressing various emotions, and evolving over time through various stages of life.

Skip down to the bottom if you don't want to read this long, detailed and drawn-out Wikipedia definition of a Pleo:
Pleo is an animatronic dinosaur toy designed to emulate the appearance and (imagined) behavior of a week-old baby Camarasaurus. It was designed by Caleb Chung, the co-creator of the Furby, Chung's company Ugobe sold pleo and was manufactured by Jetta. Chung selected this species of dinosaur because its body shape, stocky head, and relatively large cranium made it ideal for concealing the sensors and motors needed for lifelike animation. According to Ugobe, each Pleo would "learn" from its experiences and environment through a sophisticated artificial intelligence and develop an individual personality.
Pleo was unveiled on February 7, 2006 at the Demo Conference in Scottsdale, Arizona and was expected to come on the Indian and American markets around Fall 2007. Pleo shipments started on December 5, 2007.
In April 2009, Ugobe laid off all of its employees and filed for bankruptcy.
On June 8, 2009 Jetta announced it is re-launching Pleo and are continuing the line including accessories such as the vital battery and battery charger components. Pleo is now owned by Innvo Labs Corporations. The company’s unique products, known as Life Forms, intend to blur the line between technology and life by integrating three disciplines—organic articulation, sensory response, and autonomous behavior. Innvo Labs aims to revolutionize robotics and transfer inanimate objects into lifelike creatures. That made Innvo the best candidate for bringing Pleo back to life.Pleo was engineered by a group of robotics specialists, animators, technologists, scientists, biologists, and programmers. The design combined sensory, articulation, and neuronetics to create a lifelike appearance with organic movement and adaptable behaviors. In developing Pleo, Ugobe noted the biological and neurological systems of the Camarasaurus, and "re-interpreted" those elements through hardware and software. The robot is software-upgradeable via SD card or USB interfaces and original cost was $350 USD.[2] Ugobe encouraged user modifications of the robot's firmware, provided links to 3rd party developed tools such as a graphical interface for home users called MySkit, and an API for programmers called a "PDK" (Pleo Developers Kit). In a 2008 test of various animatronic animal toys in Slate magazine, the Pleo was the only contestant which was considered a success, whereas the remaining models of earlier or competing developers were mainly considered unnatural, creepy or simply unconvincing.

ABOUT THE UGOBE BANKRUPTCY
Beginning in December 2008, Pleoworld began to experience technical problems. By the Christmas holidays, Pleoworld was offline, including the user forums. After the holidays, both Pleoworld and Ugobe's official websites displayed updating website messages. Both sites returned sometime at the beginning of 2009. Ugobe official website updated its board of directors listing. Ugobe stated that the problems were due to the company's relocation but had not explained why the user forums have not been restored.
Wired News reported the company's outlook was not good, and it was struggling to save itself from extinction as it tried to raise new funding and keep its pipeline of products alive.
From November 2008, the company saw a host of top management departures, including two CEOs, moved its office in California, and pared down its marketing and Public Relations staff in an attempt to weather the current economic storm. (This may be the reason for Pleoworld's demise.) Emails to the company's media contact on its website bounced back. Phone calls to its corporate office were not answered.
In July 2008, Ugobe CEO Bob Christopher stepped down and former CFO Liz Gasper retook control of the company. Christopher said he left the company to move on to other ventures. Gasper had focused on cutting down the company's burn rate and finding new funding.
With the collapse of the United States credit environment, though, fund raising came to a halt. Meanwhile, the company's entire board of directors resigned before December, 2008, giving control of Ugobe back to the co-founders, said Swanson.
Ugobe also closed its Emeryville, California office and moved all operations to its other offices in Boise, Idaho. The company then had about twenty employees. Gasper left the company, and original co-founder Caleb Chung found himself back in the hot seat. Chung did not respond to requests for an interview.
It had become extremely difficult for new Pleo owners or existing members of the website to access the official forums and Plogs. In the wake of these problems, a loyal fan has setup a forum for members to join to talk Pleo, get the latest Pleo news, and download firmware updates for Pleo.
On April 17, 2009 Ugobe filed chapter 7 bankruptcy, and halted the production of new Pleos.
On June 8, 2009 Jetta acquired Ugobe and Steve Ohler - the United States liaison for the company - said the company is firmly committed to re-launching Pleo and continuing the line including accessories such as the vital battery and charger components
A letter to Pleo
Dear Pleo, we were devastated when news of your extinction made headlines a while ago. Now, we're heartened to hear that you'll be back. Jetta Company, the firm that manufactured you for the now defunct Ugobe, has apparently acquired the assets of Ugobe which was facing bankruptcy. The good news is your comeback will be accompanied by an accessories lineup including batteries and charging components. Now, all that's needed to complete the happy picture are baby dinobot Pleos.
